What initially drew you to Social Sabby?

Initially, Social Sabby was very appealing because it was so different from the work I was used to in a corporate office setting. I remember it not feeling like work because I was having so much fun with all of the children. What made me want to be more involved, was talking with the parents of the children we worked with, who reinforced how important Social Sabby was to their child(ren).

What unique perspective do you bring to the board?

I am in a unique position as a member of this team because I have experience working directly with the children and understanding their needs, but I also work behind the scenes running the organization. Having this dual role helps to keep me grounded in our mission, never forgetting why Kevin started Social Sabby all those years ago.

What piece of advice would you give to your younger self?

Go with the flow! If I have learned anything over the years, it is to follow the natural course of my life instead of trying to go against the current. The more I adopt this perspective, the more easily things seem to fall into place.

What are you most excited about for the future of Social Sabby?

Everything! We have so many ideas and avenues to explore. I am excited that we are just scratching the surface with so much room to grow.

I attended a 50-hour training to be certified as a Stephen Minister and volunteered as such for several years. Stephen Ministers are lay congregation members trained to provide one-to-one care to those experiencing a difficult time in life, such as grief, divorce, job loss, chronic or terminal illness, or relocation. It was very gratifying being able to walk difficult paths with the individuals I was involved with and to be a source of strength at these moments in their life.
