About Social Sabby
Our mission is to provide a variety of inclusive educational, social, and recreational activities for children of all ability levels. We aim to increase autism spectrum disorder (ASD) awareness, education and understanding in the greater Meriden, CT area in an effort to foster an inclusive community.
All of our programs are designed to be inclusive of special needs children. We believe that every child should be afforded the opportunity to participate in typical childhood experiences that are not isolated by ability level. We host day camps, seasonal sports leagues, social recreational groups, summer camps and 1:1 mentoring services. We are official service providers for the CT Department of Children and Families, CT Department of Developmental Disabilities, and The Meriden Board of Education. We are licensed through the CT Office of Early Childhood, and have serviced over 500 participants in the last two years alone. Together with your help, we can help more children in need.
We believe that when people understand ASD, they can not only be more compassionate of those with varying ability levels, but become more aware of their capacity to help others.
Our Why:
*According to the CDC
1 in 36 children are on the autism spectrum*
There are 1,643 students in the Meriden school district with an autism spectrum disorder or other learning disability
According to Autism Speaks it costs 83% more to raise a child with special needs & Meriden residents typically have a lower discretionary income, increasing the need for affordable support services for their special needs children
In-person services to develop social skills for this population are extremely limited, making our programs that much more valuable
A very special THANK YOU to our sponsors, without whom our programs would not be possible!
